Groundwater Resource Development
Groundwater is a natural, renewable resource that must be well managed. We can assist with all aspects relating to sustainable groundwater resource development, from initial potential evaluations, geophysical siting, drilling, and testing of boreholes for both quantity and quality.
Often the mistake is made to test the capacity of the borehole, and not the capacity of the aquifer. A borehole's maximum yield capacity is not what the aquifer can sustain in the long term.
It's like putting a big straw in a small cup - the cup will quickly be depleted!
Groundwater Impact Assessment
In South Africa, certain water uses must be licensed through the Department of Water and Sanitation.
We can assist in the application process for licenses involving abstraction of groundwater, or discharge of waste that might pollute groundwater.
In order to obtain water use licenses, it is necessary to assess the impact of the proposed use on the aquifer - whether over-abstraction or pollution.
