GIS

Geographic Information Systems
GIS is more than just beautiful maps in reports. It is a powerful tool to store, analyse and present spatially related data.
For example, borehole locations can be spatially related to catchment or water management areas. Groundwater levels can be interpolated relative to topography and groundwater flow maps can be generated. Similarly spatially related geologic data like mineral occurrences and concen-trations form the basis of future exploration acitivites.
It has become virtually impossible to separate any field of the geosciences from GIS, and the possibilities are only limited by imagination!
